MIG, TIG, and Spot Welding Services

Structural weldments, enclosures, and precision assemblies for OEM manufacturers across the Twin Cities and Midwest.

Sheet metal welding for OEM manufacturers

ELO Engineering's welding department serves OEM and industrial manufacturers requiring consistent, high-quality weldments across steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and copper. Our Minneapolis facility operates dedicated MIG, TIG, and spot welding stations — handling everything from lightweight sheet metal enclosures and electronic component housings to heavy structural frames weighing several tons.

For OEM programs, welding at ELO Engineering is part of a complete fabrication sequence — not a standalone service. Parts arrive at our welding department already laser cut, punched, and formed on our in-house equipment. Your program runs through a single facility without supplier handoffs, maintaining dimensional consistency and quality documentation from first article through full production.

Welding processes — Minneapolis facility

ELO Engineering's Minneapolis welding operation runs dedicated stations for MIG, TIG, spot, and aluminum welding, covering the process requirements of OEM programs across multiple industries and material types

MIG Welding (GMAW) Metal Inert Gas welding for high-speed production joining of steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. ELO Engineering operates seven Miller wire feed welders rated at .250 amp, suited for structural weldments, frame fabrication, and production enclosures requiring consistent bead quality and fast cycle times.

TIG Welding (GTAW) Tungsten Inert Gas welding for precision joints, cosmetic welds, and thin-gauge materials requiring tight heat control. ELO Engineering operates six Miller Dynasty TIG welders — five Miller Dynasty 350 and one Miller Dynasty 400 with Total Arc Control — providing the arc stability and parameter control required for medical device components, electronic enclosures, and stainless steel assemblies.

Aluminum MIG Welding ELO Engineering operates four dedicated Lincoln aluminum MIG welders — three Lincoln K2403-1 Power MIG 350 and one Lincoln K1694-1 Power MIG 300 — providing dedicated aluminum welding capacity for OEM programs requiring aluminum enclosures, structural assemblies, and components in 5052, 6061, and other alloys.

Spot Welding (Resistance Welding) Three spot welding stations — 75 KVA, 100 KVA, and 150 KVA — for high-speed resistance welding of sheet metal components. Spot welding is used for panel assemblies, brackets, and enclosure fabrication where speed and consistent joint strength are required without filler material.

MIG and TIG aluminum welding — 5052, 6061, and structural alloys

ELO Engineering's aluminum welding capability is one of the more developed in the Minneapolis sheet metal fabrication market. Four dedicated Lincoln aluminum MIG welders alongside our Miller Dynasty TIG stations give OEM programs the flexibility to choose the right aluminum welding process for their application — MIG for production speed and structural joints, TIG for precision work and cosmetically critical surfaces.

Common aluminum welding applications at ELO Engineering include enclosures, chassis, brackets, heat sink assemblies, and structural frames in 5052, 6061, and other aluminum alloys. Our ISO 9001:2015 certified quality management system covers aluminum weldments through the same first article and in-process inspection process as steel programs.

Steel. Stainless. Aluminum.

ELO Engineering's welding operation handles the following materials across MIG, TIG, spot, and aluminum welding processes:

  • Mild steel — MIG and TIG, structural and sheet gauge

  • Stainless steel — TIG and MIG, 304, 316, and other alloys

  • Aluminum — dedicated Lincoln aluminum MIG and Miller Dynasty TIG, 5052, 6061, and other alloys

Welding for OEM programs — quality and documentation

ELO Engineering's ISO 9001:2015 certified quality management system covers every weldment — from the first article submission through production releases. Our welding department operates under documented work instructions and in-process inspection checkpoints, providing the consistency and traceability OEM programs require.

Weld quality at ELO Engineering is backed by our in-house inspection capability — including our Inspecvision optical flat part inspection system and CMM for dimensional verification of welded assemblies. First article inspection reports and in-process documentation are available for your program file upon request.
