Quality Control and Assurance
ISO 9001:2015 · ITAR registered · REACH · RoHS · California Prop 65
ELO Engineering is a precision contract sheet metal fabricator located in Minneapolis, Minnesota, serving OEM and industrial manufacturers across the Twin Cities and greater Midwest since 1972. Our quality management system covers every operation in our facility — from the first laser cut to final assembly and shipment — ensuring your parts arrive on time and to specification, every order.
As a Tier 1 and Tier 2 supplier partner, ELO Engineering has built its reputation on delivering uniform components exactly as specified. Whether your program requires first article documentation, in-process inspection, or full compliance with ITAR, REACH, or RoHS requirements, our quality systems are built to support your program from prototype through production.
Certifications and Compliance
ELO Engineering maintains the following certifications and regulatory compliance status for our Minneapolis sheet metal fabrication facility:
ISO 9001:2015 — Quality management system certified by Amtivo, registered with ANAB. Covers precision sheet metal fabrication, machining, assembly, and coating operations at our Minneapolis facility.
ITAR registered — ELO Engineering is registered with the U.S. Department of State Directorate of Defense Trade Controls, qualifying us to manufacture components for defense and military programs.
REACH compliant — Our manufacturing processes monitor and manage chemical substances in accordance with EU REACH requirements, supporting customers in regulated industries.
RoHS compliant — Our processes comply with RoHS directives restricting hazardous substances, supporting customers in electronics, medical device, and consumer product sectors.
California Proposition 65 compliant — ELO Engineering's processes and materials comply with California's Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act requirements.
Inspection Capabilities — Minneapolis facility
ELO Engineering's inspection program is built around your program requirements. Our Minneapolis facility provides the following inspection services:
First article inspection — Dimensional verification of the first production parts against your customer print before production release. First article reports available upon request for new programs and engineering changes.
In-process inspection — Periodic dimensional and visual checks at key operations throughout the production run. Frequency and checkpoints are defined by your program requirements and our internal quality plan.
Final inspection — Customer-specified inspection requirements verified before shipment. Documentation available per your program's quality requirements.
Inspection equipment:
Inspecvision optical inspection system — Non-contact 2D measurement for sheet metal parts, providing fast and accurate dimensional verification against CAD or DXF data.
CMM inspection — Coordinate measuring machine for 3D dimensional verification of complex parts and assemblies.
Calibrated hand tools — Calipers, micrometers, and gauges maintained on a calibration schedule.
Our Quality Approach — metrics driven, lean principles
ELO Engineering operates as a metrics-driven organization, guided by Lean and Continuous Improvement principles. Our quality approach is built on three disciplines that prevent defects rather than just catching them:
Standardization — For every process, we ask: what is the most efficient method that prevents recurrence? Documented work instructions and process controls ensure consistent results across every operator and every shift.
Training and discipline — Quality depends on every team member following the standard process 100% of the time. ELO Engineering invests in operator training and process discipline to ensure consistency from prototype through full production.
Problem solving — When issues occur, we apply structured root cause analysis: what is the root cause? What is the corrective action? What is the preventive action? This approach eliminates recurring problems rather than applying temporary fixes.
